Merrimack College Woman Earns ASCE Accolades

Chelsea resident Maggie Jacques has been named one of ten "2013 New Faces of Civil Engineering - College Edition" by the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), it was recently announced. Maggie is a senior at Merrimack College in North Andover, Massachusetts. A civil engineering major with a minor in mathematics, Maggie was chosen from among a field of talented college students nationwide whose academic and extracurricular achievements demonstrate their promise as future engineers and leaders in their profession.

Maggie has been involved in the American Society of Civil Engineers at Merrimack College in the School of Science and Engineering since her freshman year and is the current president. Through Merrimack, she has twice participated in service work in Haiti with the school's engineering team, where they have assessed and made repairs to a water system damaged by the 2010 earthquake.

A dean's list student for every semester, Maggie is the daughter of Maria and Stephen Jacques of Chelsea, Maine.
